WHO WE ARE
The origins of Germans Boada go back to 1950, when the Boada brothers invented a manual cutter for hydraulic mosaic work. The new tool was well received and won the gold medal and diploma of honour at the first national invention exhibition held in Barcelona in 1953. The 1950s were marked by the difficult task of introducing a tool onto the market that was ahead of its time, as well as progressively improving the cutter’s features and gradually modernising production processes. Although sales were initially regional in focus, little by little they began to extend throughout all of Spain, followed by the first exports to Ecuador and sales in France and Portugal. The company permanently cemented its success in the 1960s, at the same time as ceramic and stoneware floorings and coverings became more widespread. In 1960, the company became a public limited company, set up by the brothers Antoni and Joan Boada and Mr Miquel Escayol. More than sixty years later, with the second generation of founders on the management board, Germans Boada, S.A. has established itself as a leading company in the design, manufacturing and distribution of machinery and tools for cutting, laying and maintaining ceramic tiles. As a company that is internationally renowned for its dynamism and capacity for innovation, Germans Boada has had to keep evolving in order to cope with the growth it has experienced since it began, going through different stages and moving from the modest workshop where the Boada brothers made the first units by hand to new modern facilities. However, the company headquarters has always remained in the city of Rubí.
Germans Boada, S.A., RUBI® was created in 1951 based on the invention of a manual cutter for hydraulic mosaic tiles. This new tool, which was given the name RUBI®, served as the pillar for the development of a solid company that today designs, manufactures and distributes machinery and tools for cutting, installing and maintaining ceramic tiles. Its international outlook means that Germans Boada, S.A. is now a global company with a presence in more than 100 countries and a large network of branches and subsidiaries throughout the world.
